Barnes Wetlands Centre - a haven for wildlife...

Friday 23rd August
Took a trip to Barnes today to investigate the new Wetlands Centre. It's beautifully planned and laid out into an exciting route that meanders through habitats created to make the various birds and other creatures feel at home. You wander through the New Zealand area before discovering the Arctic, the Tropics, North America with a terrific log cabin, and then you find yourself in a South East Asia paddy field! Each area has boards with descriptive and explanatory notes, and more often than not some device for children to experiment with. Back at base, there's a restaurant, theatre, art gallery and souvenir shop - something for everyone.Of course, being a dog, I had to stay outside and peer through the fence, but I managed a couple of shots with my telephoto lens!
