This poor old tree
got knocked flying
by a delivery van
a day ago, just as it was
starting to blossom.
On closer inspection, the wood
looks as though it has started
to die back in places
which is maybe why it toppled
so easily.
But I shall miss its glorious blooms
though not the squashy purple blue fruit
that always lands on your car
or the birds that used it
as a bombing platform!
